Sentinel for agents · MCP reference
Wire Signal into your agent.
One MCP server exposes the Signal API as tools: scan a video, read the result, browse the library. Install it, then call the tools. With no key, demo_scan returns a real completed scan.

claude mcp add sentinel-signal -- npx -y @getsentinel/mcp
@getsentinel/mcp is a stdio MCP server for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf or any MCP client. Config: SENTINEL_API_KEY (needed to scan your own videos; create it on your account page) and SENTINEL_BASE (optional, default https://getsentinel.ai).
ToolsTools
| Tool | Signature and behaviour |
|---|---|
demo_scan | No arguments, no key. Returns a real completed scan from the public library, shaped exactly like yours will be. Call it first to show the user a readout. |
library | No arguments, no key. The public Signal library: title, author, duration, score, grade, likes, comments and a link. |
signals_reference | No arguments, no key. What each signal measures (hold, motion, loudness, speech, cuts) and how the score is built. |
scan_url | { url, title? }. Submits a public video URL. Returns a scan id to poll. Needs a key. |
scan_file | { path, title? }. Uploads a local video file from the user’s machine. Returns a scan id. Needs a key. |
get_scan | { scan_id, full? }. While processing: status and percent. When complete: score, grade, hook, dead stretches, moments, claims and summary. full: true adds the per-second timeline and transcript. |
wait_for_scan | { scan_id }. Polls until the scan completes (up to 10 minutes) and returns the compact readout. |
list_scans | { limit? }. The caller’s recent scans. |
Without a key, the scan tools return a short message that says how to get one, not an error, so the agent can explain it to the user.
PromptsCopy-paste prompts
Use the sentinel-signal demo_scan tool and walk me through the readout: the score, where viewers drop, and the dead stretches.
Scan ~/Movies/spring-cut-v3.mp4 with sentinel-signal, wait for it, then tell me the three seconds I should cut and why.
Scan cut-a.mp4 and cut-b.mp4 with sentinel-signal and compare the hook, the dead stretches and the final grade side by side.
